We would like to thank several people who have assisted in making this site possible. We love you each uniquely and appreciate everything you do and bring to the site. We look forward to talking with you daily and love the inspiration that you give to us and the world. Remain strong and steadfast and keep your heads in the game for it is far too easy to be lead astray. Some of you are members, some are admins, but all of you are our friends and our family and we love you very much. A special thank you to my admin team for your hard work and dedication.

THE RULES OF THE SITE

-----------------------------------------------------

Here are the rules of this website, please be sure to follow them or your character's fate is in the hands of the Providence Staff.

  • Sexual RP's will not be tolerated on any level. You can flirt, kiss (peck), hold hands, but RPing out sexual encounters will not be tolerated. We don't feel it is necessary and it makes people uncomfortable. If you want to do that type of RPing you can find a different board to do so. Added 6-18-2009 - Inappropriate behavior should not be going on behind YIM either. Almost every time something like that happens people finds out and it is embarrassing and can result in your permanent ejection from both Greens and Providence Academy's if it causes RL drama on the site. We have people on the site that are young writers so please be appropriate and stay on your best behavior.

  • Respect each other and the Admins. Please... no fighting. If you have a problem PM one of the Admins.

  • You must cite if you pull information from another source that you use in a post, example: Please Note: If you copy and paste any written work from our site and publish it in another source, that is constituted as plagiarism if you do not get permission from the webmasters. If we find this happen we work as a staff to determine the fate of your character, but in most cases it will constitute a ban and the administrator on the other site will be contacted. In extreme cases it would be viewed as a violation of U.S. Copyright Laws. We will not risk losing our website because you are not complying with the Proboards TOS. Copy and pasting posts from another site and pasting them on ours is considered to be a republishing of an original work, so you must cite the original source EVEN IF IT IS YOUR WORK. You must have permission from the webmasters before doing so in all cases. This site is protected by Copyscape which is a plagiarizing detection website. Pla•gia•rize : to steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one's own : use (another's production) without crediting the source intransitive verb : to commit literary theft : present as new and original an idea or product derived from an existing source

  • If you have a subplot please be sure to post it in the subplot area and stick to it. If someone owns a plot you must ask or be invited to join the plot and follow the guidelines that are already set down for that characters placement in the plot. Failure to do so can and will result in a reality warp if the member(s) approach and ask for the posts to be deleted.

  • God-modding allowed only in certain circumstances and only with permission, unless you are you god-modding a person who doesn’t really exist on the board. People hate when their character(s) is/are god-modded without permission.
    Acceptable Godmod:
Constance walked into the coffee shop, intending to order a latte. The server came up and said, "What can I get you miss." Constance smiled at the man and said, "A latte please, extra whip cream."
    Unacceptable Godmod:
When you control someone else's character. For example if you are in a duel, you cannot RP and say what you "did" to the other character and how they reacted. If you throw a spell at them, then they must have the opportunity to react on their own. It is a fine line, so be careful.

  • No one is perfect or all knowing or all seeing, your character must have limitations. Please play the game right.

  • No one-liners. Please, make your post as long as you can, 150 words or more is required on every post. We will not put up with One to two line posts, if this done they will be deleted. People get frustrated and won't RP with you if your posts don't have substance so please use your imagination and creativity.

  • From time to time we might have a character turn to a ghost. This would only happen if the person that was killed off and has a reason for “not crossing over.” You would have to PM the Admins and state why your character would have a reason to be a ghost.

  • If you are leaving the board for any reason what-so-ever, you must let people know. It is rude when you leave people hanging when an RP is in play. Please post your leave on the Absence Thread in the OCC. If you do not post in the OOC or let the admins know of your character’s intentions, then your character may be taken.

  • Your Real Life Birthdate - Upon initial sign up with the site, previous to putting in an application for your character must be reflective of your actual age. Day/Month/Year. If you are under the age of 13, then we must receive written parental consent emailed to us using the form we will provide to you. In that case your real age will be kept on file, but you will still need to reflect your real month and year and the admin team will be alerted that you are under age. If you lie about your age and we learn that you are under age and you did not obtain written parental consent your IP will be banned and your posts will be deleted and membership will permenantly revoked.

  • Added 3/9/09 - This forum shall not be used as a vessel to promote or propagate your views on political issues. If your signature and/or posts add links to propagate your political views on any issue, the following action will be taken.

First, you will be given a warning and will be asked to remove the offending items from your signature or post upon the next logon or within 24 hours which ever comes first. Second, If not removed upon logon or within 24 hours, then the admin will do it for you by removing the offending material. Third, if you do it again, upon the second offense the character's membership will be suspended for a week and the signature/post will be deleted. Fourth, if you do it again, your IP will be suspended affecting all of your characters on forum for a week. Fifth, if you do it again, your IP will be permanently suspended.

  • Grammar, capitalization and spell check are required. If you are 13 years or above you should have no problem structuring a sentence. If you can't we will place you with a mentor so you can learn. The mentor will red mark your post, pointing out mistakes in grammar, spelling or punctuation. It doesn't matter what profession you are in you will need to learn how to write so use this as a fun opportunity to learn and make friends at the same time.

  • HAVE FUN! AND PLAY FAIR....

If you are willing to abide by the rules as they stand, then please go fill out an application: Click here for the Registration Office

*** Rules may be modified from time to time. ***

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

-----------------------------------------------------

  • This is a beginner site, so that you can learn to RP and expand your mind into the magical world.

  • We expect our members to put up thought provoking works that fit within the site premise and your application must be complete and free of grammatical and spelling errors. Please put substance into your posts – 150 words or more is required!

  • We are big on trust, so please don’t be deceitful on your initial registration. We accept members that are 13 years and old and up as long as their writing is at the level expected. DO NOT LIE ABOUT YOUR AGE. Doing so can result in you being kicked off the site, with no discussion.

  • We have a C Box on the sideof the page. In order to talk in the C Box. You must register your name. To do that you would put in the name that you are going to use and then click on the profile at the bottom right hand corner of the page; put in a password and your name will become a protected name.

  • Multiple accounts can be created with permission of an admin.

  • If you start posting before approval, your posts will be deleted and in very extreme cases your IP banned.

RP ETIQUETTE
-----------------------------------------------------

  • Don't make your character all-knowing. If they were not a part of the RP conversation between a set of characters, even if you read it, your character doesn't know what happened, common sense.

  • If two or more people are RPing somewhere, you need to ask for their permission if you wish to join them. Jumping into someone's RP is totally unacceptable and will result in deleted posts if the parties involve request it.

  • If you want to RP with someone, please ask them first.

  • All major players involved in a subplot, must come to an agreement and all parties must respect it. There are generally two or three major players in subplot, so you must communicate with them on the subplot they have in the works. If you are invited into the subplot you must comply with their subplot line. If you sabotage a plot the post will be deleted, resulting in a reality warp and you will be warned. Messing with other members plots so your character gets what they want makes people angry and will be addressed.

Etiquette is common sense, but if we have to ban someone for not respecting this, then we will. Respect is the most important thing for us on this forum, so if you have any questions then please ask. Also, the password for your application is not superfly.

Here is the path you must follow to get started on Providence as a new character.

-----------------------------------------------------

[1] Read the Rules. You will be expected to follow them.

[2] [Read the Site Premise] - We ask that you RP based on the site premise. It is very simple everyone is RPing in the same timeline and must account for what is going on in the city of Providence. For example - RPing that you are swimming in the ocean in the middle of February is just not realistic and will be addressed.

    [3] Put in your Application:
You have 1 week from the date of applying to get your application in. Failure to do so will inactivate your account, which means you will have to re-register. We are not a site that boasts the amount of members, but rather the amount members who have put in applications and are active on the site.

You can apply for the following:
  • [Regular Character Application] - This is to apply to be an Adult or Student of your liking. Regular characters can apply for special abilities which may or may not be granted.
    -or-
  • [Creature Application] - You can apply for just about any humanoid creatures there are and we have a list you can view - or- if there is one we don't have here, you can suggest one. They have to be the type of creature that can interact with others on the site, so please ask the Admins on those not on the list before you start on the application. We are hard on the creature applications because we want to make sure you can play the creature properly.
    -or-

Additional Stuff:

*The Staff reserves the right to add, amend or adjust the rules or RP etiquette page at any time without notice.*
