Zoe exited the doors of the school and made her way slowly out onto the grounds. She looked up at the sky and noticed the beautiful sunshine. Even as it was slowly descending as if it was to meet the earth. She was mesmerized by the site of it. The colors were as bright as ever. Oranges and reds. It was beautiful she thought to herself. If she hadn't wanted to go to the waterfall she might stop there and draw. But another day she thought to herself. The smell of the fresh air was wonderful. A silent smile crept its way to Zoe's face.
After a quick glance around. She continued down toward the place she knew the waterfall was hidden. Zoe was very edger to get there before darkness fell. The grounds were full of people enjoying the nice warm weather. So it wasn't long before she was lost in the multitude of the masses moving about the grounds.
Soon, after what seemed like hours, Zoe found the spot she had been looking for. The Waterfall. She was overly excited. Since she was new to the Academy, she spent a lot of time alone. This was her favorite place of all to spend it. At least here she wasn't obviously alone. Once safely on the other side of the hidden waterfall, Zoe found her spot.
Zoe took her bag off her shoulder and retrieved a blanket that she had packed. Slowly she spread it across an empty place on the floor. After all, she really didn't want wet jeans from seating on the wet floor. Zoe sat down and got comfortable. Soon she had zoned out listening to the water from the falls.
Suddenly another sound got her attention. This wasn't from the waterfall. Zoe snapped her head up and looked for the source of the sound.

Water had always been a soothing sound for Amber. Something that she could listen too for hours without any reason. The stresses of life were wearing on her, so she decided to take a trip out side of her dorms for once. Crisp air swirled around her as she walked down the path towards the hidden gem of Providence. Why they called it a hidden waterfall she never knew since almost everyone knew of its existence.
Random thoughts raced through her head as she felt the grass crunch under her shoes. There were people around enjoying the quiet of the rest of the day near the water. Off to her right was a girl about her age laying out on a blanket. The girl seemed oblivious to the world around her and that made Amber smile. It was nice to see someone that could actually enjoy life the way it was.
Approaching slowly as to not startle the girl, Amber walked too close to the water's edge. Her coordination and balance had always been off but today it seemed to be the worst. Teetering for a moment she closed her eyes and prayed for the balance that failed her as she felt the earth rise up to greet her. The loud ominous splash alerted everyone around that something had happened. Amber struggled to stand up in the rapidly moving water. While it was not too deep the speed at which it traveled made it dangerous all the same.

Zoe sat on her blanket looking around. She knew that she had heard footsteps. The question was where were they. They had to belong to someone. She looked for them but see anyone so she went back to daydreaming. It was nice to be out on the grounds. Free of anything. The warm weather was also very nice. Very relaxing.
Suddenly there was a sound that bought Zoe out of her trance. A splash came from the water. Was someone trying to swim. But if they were going to do that would they be splashing everyone around. Zoe jumped when the water hit her.
She tried to find the person who might have fallen in. Finally her gaze fell on a girl. About her age. Zoe didn't know the girl but still felt sorry for her. Finally, seeing that no one else was going to go help her. Zoe took a step forward.
"Hey there. Need some help?" Zoe asked as she extended her hand to help the girl up.

Amber laughed softly as she realized her predicament. The water was freezing with the chill in the air and now she was sure to get sick. Looking around she saw another young girl about her age approaching her asking if she needed help. A little help would be much appreciated. I seem to have slipped like always and ended up here in the water. It is moving too fast for me to get out myself. One thing Amber had always known was that there was almost nothing in life that needed to be taken too seriously. There were a few dangerous situations that she would take seriously but falling into the water at the basin of a waterfall was not one of them.
Smiling at the other girl, Amber just tried to stay balanced and upright for as long as she could. I am sorry for getting you wet. I am the worlds biggest klutz, always falling down everywhere but such is life. Her mind briefly traveled to Ryan who she had only met once before focusing back on the present. She was starting to get the chills but until she got out of the water, casting any sort of drying spell was futile.

Zoe looked at the girl. Trying not to smile. She didn't want to come across as making fun of her for tripping. It was something that Zoe did often herself, so she understood. Zoe felt the spray from the water and knew that it was cold. She hoped the girl got up soon. Zoe reached back out with both her hands. "Here try this." Zoe said as she tried to help her out of the stream. In doing so she got wet also. This brought a small laugh from her.
"I have an idea. Let's take a few steps this way." Pointing behind her. "I think if might be safer to get the furthers from the water as possible. Both of us don't need to go swimming again." She chuckled at this. Taking a few steps herself. She really didn't want to get back into the water, it was really cold after all. Zoe looked back at the girl. "I'm Zoe, by the way."

Amber found it easy to talk to the blond that that had helped her out of the water. Her parents had warned her about being friendly with strangers, that they could end up like her older cousin Lexie, but she refused to listen. Amber always had a way of seeing the good in people even if they were mean to her. She always second guessed herself and her actions, wondering if she offended anyone even on an unconscious level. Smiling at Zoe she walked away from the waterfall a few feet, at least to where she could no longer feel the water spraying on her.
Nice to meet you Zoe. My name is Amber. Amber Cunningham. It is great to meet fellow students. She wanted to dive right in and ask the girl to talk about herself but was hesitant. There seemed to be a custom when talking to people and she would hate for them to think her strange. I cannot go a day with out falling down at least eight times. This is my life though but oh well what can you do about it? She only hoped that the awkwardness of her adolescence would go away when she got older but it seemed to get worse.

Zoe watched the girl as she walked further from the water. She guessed that she wasn't the only person who didn't really want to get wet again. Looking around Zoe found a dry patch of leaves and walked toward them. She sat down, picking up a few to play with. This was a habit of hers that she never really seemed to lose. Playing with things kept her calm. That was always a really good thing.
Looking back up at the girl, Zoe smiled as she introduced herself as Amber Cunningham. "Nice to meet you as well. My full name is Zoe-Lynn Kavanagh but please, just call me Zoe. Most people do anyway." This came with a small laugh. Thoughts seemed to fly through Zoe's head; causing her to look back at her lap. Who was this girl? Should she talk to her. What would happen if she wasn't someone that Zoe needed to actually talk to. Maybe it would be ok. Maybe she wouldn't regret talking to her.
Taking in a deep breath and letting it out slowly, Zoe looked back at Amber. So she was a klutz also. This made Zoe smile a little. "That's actually a little funny. I am a total klutz. I can trip over a flat ground or even walking up stairs. If you want something to go wrong, I am your girl. It's horrible." She had to chuckle at her own statement. It had been so truthful. She understood what the other meant by falling down all the time.
While she sat there watching Amber, Zoe thought about how to get a conversation going. She was never really good at starting them. Once they were going she would talk forever. But starting them was always her hardest part. What could she ask and not cause Amber to think she was weird or anything. That was the tricky part. But she finally settled on some simple ones.
"So I take it you're a student also. I mean, you said you always like to meet fellow students." Taking in another deep breath Zoe reached for another fallen leaf. She slowly pulled it apart so that the pieced fell between her fingers. "I'm in Pingouln. Which house are you in?" Zoe could feel the awkwardness rising between them. "Come sit. The grass over here is really dry." Zoe patted a pile of dry leaves beside her. Hoping that this would help.

Amber smiled brightly at Zoe as she made her way over to a dry patch of grass. Her life was one big catastrophe but by now Amber was so used to it that nothing bothered her. She would trip and fall and most often hurt herself but such was life. Smiling big as she listened to the other girl admit to being a klutz as well, Amber felt like she had met a kindred spirit. I am always a klutz too. It is nice to know that I am not the only one to be affected by that curse. For Amber, life was full of trips and falls, getting wet and ending up in the Clinic but she would not trade her life for anything.
The girl that was sitting there with her seemed sweet and kind and it made Amber feel more at home. I am in pingouin. Whatever that is supposed to mean. I think it is french for penguin which is ironic cause we do not waddle like penguins. At least I do not think we do. Never had she questioned the house that she had been sorted into, since her french skills were weak.

Zoë watched as Amber smiled and slowly walked toward the small patch of grass that she had pointed out. It had to be a lot drier than where she had been standing. At least there she didn't have to worry about falling in and getting wetter or. That had to be good. Zoë knew that she didn't like getting wet on accident. Purposely getting wet was one thing, doing it by accident was totally different.
"Its was good to know that I'm not the only klutz around. Sometimes it feels like I'm the only one." Zoë had to admit to it. She did feel like it was only her but maybe not. It was nice to meet someone that had something in common with her. Even if it was her ability to fall over her own two feet. At least it was something.
Listening to Amber, Zoë couldn't help but smile and then give a small laugh. "You know I didn't realized that. But then again French was never my best subject. I have enough issues speaking English. But why would name a house after penguins." That was something Zoë didn't understand.
