Overall: Tara is dedicated to her chosen field of healing. She finds healing as well as science fascinating so she seeks to expand her knowledge on those subjects. She loves to spend time with friends and cut loose, though at times she has been known to do spontaneous things like dance in the rain. She loves to laugh and enjoys traveling all over the world to learn. Tara is a friend to everyone, whether you like her or not she will extend a hand and help.
She is loyal to her family first and friends second, though if push came to shove she would do what was needed to keep those dearest to her safe at all costs. While she loves to travel and study medicine and science, Tara is open to any form. Tara likes to think that she has an open mind about every situation she encounters but it is hard at times to keep an open mind in the face of a challenge. Dishonesty and betrayal are the two quickest ways to loose a friendship with Tara, as she feels that it shows someone's true colors. Once trust is broken it is very hard to regain and though she gives everyone the benefit of the doubt at first she is quick to break off a friendship over lack of trust.
Tara has fears just like everyone else. She hates spiders, always afraid of where they will crawl. They are tiny and hairy and creepy with their eight legs and fangs and she had had a few nightmares about being attacked by an army of them. It is the one quirk about her personality that she actually shares with people, though she has a respect for the creatures. She may dislike them but that does not mean she will kill them just because they are around, instead she chooses to try to relocate them to another part of the building.

History: Tara Samantha Jacobs was the oldest child born to Dustin and Amanda Jacobs on a balmy night in July in New York City.. Her parents had picked out the name Taran because they were expecting a boy, though Tara turned out to be a girl. Dropping the last letter of the name was the easiest thing they could think of to name their daughter so she was called Tara. Dustin and Amanda Jacobs were normal people that had normal boring jobs. Her father was copy clerk at the local newspaper while her mother worked as a seamstress.
Tara was the first of the children born, followed by Hector four years later and then Emily seven years after. The five family members were crowded into a small two bedroom house in one of the rougher neighborhoods in the Bronx. There was barley enough room for them, so her parents converted the attic space into a third bedroom, forcing Tara to take that one. At the age of six she started living in the attic, using it as her sanctuary. She loved the quietness about it but hated that it was so drafty in the winter.
When she was old enough, Tara was enrolled into public school there in the Bronx where she was given a public education. She hated school, always feeling like she was an outsider because she enjoyed the more challenging subjects such as science. Tara knew that there was something different about her, she had experienced a few unusual events but had no idea what was causing them. No one in her family really knew what to make of the the strange happenings but they kept their eyes out. Tara stayed in public school until she was eleven years old.
At the age of eleven she received a visit from Justine Brockley who was the deputy headmistress at Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. She had come home from playing with her friends in the park to see this stranger sitting in the living room talking with her parents. Tara had been nervous at first to hear such a tale from a stranger, thinking that her siblings were trying to play a joke on her. When Justine handed her the acceptance letter she was shocked beyond belief as the memories of the strange occurrences came flooding back into her memory. She had realized that it all made sense and after speaking with her parents had agreed to go away to school at Hogwarts to learn as much as she could.
Her first year at Hogwarts had been strange indeed, coming from a non-magical family and thrown to the wolves. She had endured the humiliating process of the sorting hat, wondering briefly why she had been sorted into Ravenclaw and not into Hufflepuff like she had hoped. She got her first taste of the world that she would all too soon be a part of and she loved it. From her first classes she discovered that she loved potions, because it reminded her of her science classes and she loved to learn about healing. Being able to use magic to heal others was something she felt deep within her soul that she should do.
She progressed through school and was joined only by one sibling, Hector. She was surprised that Emily did not also possess magic but being that her parents were normal they were surprised that even two kids were blessed with magic. Tara did her best to make her house proud, studying constantly and earning top marks in almost all of her classes. When her final year came she only took three classes, each of which she hoped would prepare her for a life as a healer, Advanced Potions, Advanced Care of Magical Creatures and Advanced Herbology.
After graduating from Hogwarts within the top five percent of her class, Tara went off to the university to study. She wanted to learn as much as she could in a short amount of time. She was accepted into Harvard University where she studied medicine. After earning her degree she set out traveling around the world. There were many cultures that took their own take on healing. She learned about the shamanistic ways of the Native Americans, the druidic ways of some of the Eastern European countries. Each culture imparted her with a new understand and a new love for the art of healing and she incorporates much of what she has learned in her practice. She found a place that need a healer and was open to her approach and so she packed up her things and moved to the small wizarding town of Providence Montana, where she opened up her clinic.

RP Sample: Dense jungle forests surround the tall figure bent over collecting samples. Few people were brave enough to traipse through the Amazon Rain Forest in search of plants. Tara knew that there were quite a few plants that were normally considered mundane but held magical medicinal properties. It was hard to trust some of the herb venders in her world, for they could not guarantee the freshness of half of their stock. As it was several of the leaves and stalks would need to be kept in a stasis until they were ready to be used. So here she was, gathering her own supplies and a few extras to send to her friend who was a potions professor.
Where others were afraid to trek, Tara laughed and plunged right in. Having magic at the tip of her wand gave her a bit more security in her surroundings than others, but her knowledge of how things worked was something she would never take for granted. The locals had been hesitant to allow her access to one of the more secluded areas of the jungle, afraid that she would end up food for the wildlife. As long as she did not expose herself as a witch, Tara knew that she would be able to accomplish her task.
Dusk was breaking over the horizon, signaling the end of the light and the need to get out of the jungle. Securing her stash of herbs and plants, Tara used her wand to apperate away from the deep jungle landing on the outskirts. She made her way back to her hotel where she would stay the night before traveling back to Providence. The muggy air of Brazil was enough to make her miss the constant cold that was her new home, but it was good to grow the ingredients for the healing draught she was going to make.
