Stepping out onto the grounds was the highlight of Zoe's day. She had just spent so many useless hours cleaning and putting her clothes away. The very idea was something she hated. But her room had looked like a disaster area, so it needed it. Being free from that torture allowed her to roam the grounds. Her favorite pastime.
Taking a deep breath of the fresh air. Zoe looked around. The sun was high in the sky. Casting shadows all around. Birds were heard in the nearby trees. The only thing that made the day not as prefect as it could have been was the wind. It was a very windy day. Pulling her hoodie closer to her body, Zoe walked down toward the hiking trail.
Even with the wind in an uproar like it was. A nice walk on the trail was just what was needed. As she walked, Zoe's mind flew to many different things. Some were to things that had happened so far. Others were to the people. Being new she still didn't know that many. So her list was still rather short. Thinking that she was alone on the trail Zoe was a little surprised when she heard a sound behind her. She turned to try and find the maker of that sound.

Hameus had barely woken up when he realized he wanted to get out into the outdoors and walk around. He had no set idea or goal on walking around. Just an urge to be outside had found him walking through the Hiking Trail. He had walked the path before and found it to be pretty empty most of the time. He couldn't help but assume that it would be a similar condition today. He rose out of bed, threw on some new clothes after a quick shower and headed right out of the door.
He was garbed in a dark cloak with a dark undershirt. His pants matched the set, also a dark black. The moment he stepped out the door a rush of air flourished around him. His cloak flew up and around. It fell back to it's spot as the wind died, for the moment. It was going to be a windy day. Hameus made his way through the town making no rush to keep from attracting attention. He walked straight through the town toward the hiking trail. Providence was quiet at the time and few saw him.
He had found himself on the trail in under twenty minutes. Though he hadn't rushed, his quick pace had carried him to the trail in a very reasonable time. He walked into the trees, walking along the dirt path. He walked slowly, looking around slightly taking in his surroundings. He made no notice of anything out of the ordinary. He walked along for awhile alone.
Ahead on the trail he saw a lone figure that stood out against the usual background. He squinted a bit to try and make out what the figure was. Still not walking fast he was closing the distance. He started to be able to make the imagine out. The first thing he noticed was that it was another person. As he grew near he saw long hair. Though it could be a false sign it usually signified female. A young girl was walking down the path.
The closer he got he slowed down a bit. He didn't wish to over take her, scaring her by his sudden appearance. He rather just trail her and let her not know he was there. That plan faded fast as the wind blew. His cloak pulled again, causing him to stumble. He stepped on a few dead branches making a crackle noise as they snapped and broke under his foot. He looked up at the girl, still standing on the sticks.
She was looking directly at him. He dropped his head in disgrace of his clumsiness. He picked his head back up looking at her again. He smiled, trying to seem friendly. He wasn't in a mood to scare anyone. Plus Vlad had sent him to build an army in Providence. He couldn't very well do that if he scared people away from him. He looked at her blankly for a moment before saying,
"Good day. I didn't mean to interrupt your hike. There's some strong wind out today, no?"

The wind kicked up again. Zoe looked around. Was a storm headed in. This wasn't the normal behavior of the wind. Pulling her dark hoodie closer to her body pulling the hood up so that it covered her blonde hair. The last thing Zoe wanted to do was spend the evening trying to get knots out of it from the wind. It was a good thing she had put on jeans today also.
Nosies could be heard in every direction. From the sounds of the birds to the sounds of the wind. Those were sounds that didn't bother Zoe. The sound that bothered her the most was the sound of someone behind her on the trail. The sound of dead branches being broken. As she turned to face the sound she found a man.
Fear filled Zoe. This wasn't something she had expected. There weren't anyone else about on the grounds. She had figured that the wind had kept most people indoors. But now, before her stood someone she had never seen before. Here she was in another position for something to happen to her. Boy, Zoe was soon going to either have to get smart or there would not be a second chance.
It took Zoe a few moments to realize that she was staring. Looking back at him, he soon noticed it too. So she quickly looked away. Not wanting to make it any more awkward than it was already.
When the man spoke, it took Zoe by surprise. He was talking about the weather. This brought a small smile to her. "Hello. I didn't realize anyone else was out and about today. Most are hiding inside due to the wind. Yes. It is pretty windy. But that is good. Keeps most people away." Zoe said with a smile. She loved being outdoors. Wind or no wind. It was better than being stuck inside.

Hameus stood still as to not strike any panic. He picked his foot off of the broken halves of the twigs. He looked at her as she spoke. He had a habit that he had to be looking at a person when they were talking. If he wasn't he tended to not hear them or remember what they said. He agreed with what she was saying. "Yes. When it's like this most people take shelter rather than take advantage. It takes a true nature lover to be out here at a time like this."
Though he couldn't tell by her look or by her posture he suspected that she was a little scared by him. He was a large man and had been told that he looked very imposing. He made sure she was looking and said, "My wand is in this pocket here. I will not reach for it. Just figured I would let you know so it wouldn't worry you." He motioned toward his left pocket.
After that he continued on, saying, "I'm guessing you like being outdoors as well? I love it outside. These days are fun because not only do most people hide, but you get to experience other sides of nature, other than sunny and warm."
He was trying to relate to her in some way so the conversation wouldn't stop early. If he managed to find a 'friend' inside of the school it would be one step closer to fulfilling his orders. He wasn't looking to make a group of friends to go bowling and have tea parties. He was looking more for links and informants. If he could get news of different happenings that would give him an upper hand.
He wasn't sure how exactly he would work it out but he could use her to help him. If in the mean time she thought him to be a nice guy who was cool and nice to be around, then sacrifices had to be made he supposed.

Zoe stood watching this stranger. Was it wise to be out in the open like this with someone who seemed so mysterious. There was something about this guy. She could['t put a finger on it. But there was definably something not right, not good. Without realizing what she was doing, Zoe took a small step back. Shifting her weight. Almost as if preparing herself for something. Not sure really what it was. Never taking her eyes off the man in front of her.
He seemed to agree with Zoe on the weather. Or was that she agreed with him. Either way it really didn't matter much. They were both right. It was a strange weather to be out and about in. But he had found one of the subjects that would get Zoe's attention. The weather. "These times." Zoe said with a small smile and shrug, raising her left hand toward the sky almost pointing to the wind itself. "These are the times that I would love to spend outdoors. Less people to distract me. Less people I have to share mother nature with."
Looking back at the man. Zoe noticed his change in stance. Was he going for his wand. There was no way that she would be quicker than he was. Just as she started to think on that he reassured her that he wasn't reaching for it. That fact allowed Zoe to released a breath she didn't realize that she had been holding. Well at least he wasn't planning on hurting her. That was a plus.
Zoe smiled as the man continued to talk about the weather. "I love being outdoors. If anyone wants to find me I am here. I hate being confounded indoors. All forms of weather is welcome. Each brings with it a change and surprise." She could stand there all day and talk about the weather. It was after all one of her biggest weakness.

He was at first shifty when her position changed. She seemed to be leaning away as though she was going to leap and run. He hoped she didn't. Though he didn't mind being alone he felt that he could get on a plane of relative friendship with the girl. He decided that if they were to keep talking that they shouldn't be standing the whole time.
He sat down on a log. "Mother nature sure can be a head turner. Changing from one extreme to the other. Sometimes enjoyable but sometimes a bit annoying." He motioned toward a log on the ground next to her saying, "Would you like to sit down? That is if you don't have anything else to do. You're an interesting conversation."
He hoped that she would join him. The weather seemed to be staying relatively still. He hadn't checked the weather before leaving but hoped it didn't rain. He was not in a mood to go home soaking wet. The way she was talking about the weather she seemed to be a very weather connected person. He was making an effort to get her comfortable talking to him. The more he could do that the better chance he had of making some progress.
He went out on a limb this time. He smiled at her and said, "You go to Providence High School right? I use to go there. Great school but some of those teachers are completely clueless. I learned better magic outside of the school with experienced wizards." Not only trying to make conversation but also trying to plant an idea into her mind of outside of school learning. He wasn't sure if it would work but it was worth the attempt at least.

Zoe watched as the man contained to seem harmless. He almost seemed somewhat friendly. A little afraid to actually call it that though. Taking another deep breath of fresh air Zoe looked around at the surroundings. Checking to see if they were still were alone or if anyone else was going to try and brave the weather. Didn't seem like anyone was around.
Slowly she turned back to face the man. Now he was sitting on a log talking about Mother Nature. It was almost to prefect. This thought made her laugh a little. Finally deciding that it would be safe to sit down, Zoe took a seat on a log across from him. "I can talk about mother nature all day. She is wonderful. No two days are ever truly the same. There is always something different about each." Taking a moment to think. "I believe that the people who get annoyed by nature are the ones that don't really understand it."
Reaching down. Zoe picked up a fallen dead branch. She started to play with it in her hands. With the something in her hands she was able to relax a little more. Zoe sat listening to the man talk about the school and learning and such. "I'm new here. Only been here for a couple of weeks. So as for the teaching, I have no idea what its like around here. Before I came here I had private tutors. So its going to be interesting to actually learn in a school setting." This was true. But she kept the reason for private tutoring to herself.

Sitting on the log he found himself to actually be listening to the girl. Surprising enough to him for many children annoyed him. This one seemed to be mature enough to hold an adult conversation without having to push her mind. He smiled a bit trying to stay friendly. He had understood that his Dark Lord in Green's had been working to gather a small army. The idea seemed smart enough to gather people in the area that could help him. This girl seemed to be a bit of a prospect, he just had to play all of his cards in the right order.
"Well I'm sure the teachers are just as dense as they use to be. I still believe private teaching gives more success because it's one on one. That kind of teaching is just more effective." In saying this he was attempting to lead her mind somewhere. The thought process would hopefully give her the idea that if she knew a friendly experienced wizard, she could learn much more. He continued to keep a friendly look on his face. He spoke again, saying, "I use to help my neighbor's children learn a good amount of magic. Surprisingly they learned very fast. It made them, their parents, and me so happy, just to see them succeed as they were." The lie seemed convenient enough and one-hundred percent believable.

Twirling the twig over and over in her hand, Zoë tried to concentrate harder on it. At least this way she was able to relax and not be completely uptight around the stranger that she had just met. She let her mind wonder a little about what classes were going to be like around here. It was something that she hadn't really wanted to think about. After all the years being taught privately, this was going to be a huge change for her. The changes had already started.
"To be honest. I'm really nervous about teaching in this setting. I have always been either homeschooled or had a private tutor. This is going to be very interesting. Almost to the point of being scary." For a moment she took her glance off her the twig and back up to the man sitting beside her. He was saying things that she had wanted before being convinced to coming to Providence. Zoë wondered whether she should say anything else.
Zoë sat listening to him talk about teaching other students. That had its prospects. "Now that is interesting. I know I'm going to miss my tutor. Shoot, I already miss her. Some days I wonder why I am even here." She couldn't help but wonder could he help her. Of course she wouldn't come right out and ask. But the thought was hanging there.

He watched the twig twirl in her hands, his mind wandering a bit into his memories. He had spent much time in the out doors since he had been a child. What it was about the scenery and placement of nature that drew his attention, he did not know. He guessed it was from the lack of control, nature choosing to grow as it wanted, versus as it was told. Control was a necessity in his atmosphere, and without it he felt lost and sometimes even confused. He had long guessed that his reasoning there was correct but he could never be completely sure.
"I believe tutoring is successful as well because you can pull the student away from the usual distractions and disturbances of the classroom. I just tends to clear them mind, leaving them with only their thoughts about learning or whatever is at hand. It's always seemed true in any occasion presented that a student is more distracted when surrounded by other students." The ploy made sense and even more fit the occasion well. Convincing this girl to trust him could be an aid to him later on, especially if she were to find that his path was more prosperous than following a school path. After all following his lead, a small group of the Wizarding World's future generation could easily take the small town of Providence over in one foul swoop. The thoughts seemed to claw at his mind, leaving him wanting to ask her if she could use some tutoring. He decided to wait a bit longer, making sure her interest was truly in it and that he would not be suspected of anything. He still couldn't make his position known by any enemies of authorities. It was still too early to start a take over, after all commands from his superior still had not flowed in.
