Lark had been sitting in her store for a few hours, a few people had come in and the only real thing keeping her company was the bunny she had gotten a few days ago. Jasper, what she had decided on naming her new creature, was sitting in his cage beside the counter and staring at her like he knew she was bored with the day. “Okay, I’ll go for a walk. But you have to stay here.” With a sigh she grabbed her bag and headed out the door locking it and changing the sign to closed she smiled. This place was hers, it had been a dream for so long and finally. Lark wanted to call her mother or send her a photo or something of the storefront. Then again she wondered if they still cared, it had been a while since she had seen or heard from them. Heading down the street she smiled at the various stores, she wanted to start making friends with the owners; she wanted to be able to recommend things to her customers.
The wind chimes tinkled and she considered grabbing one, with a quick turn she stood on her tip toes and plucked one, if she ran into someone in one of the stores it could be a good offering of friendship. Placing the ceramic wind chime in her bag she started walking again. There were various things that caught her eye but she soon found herself staring into the wand shop. Lark didn’t have a wand, she hadn’t been raised around magic and was currently trying to simply harness her own. With a curious smile she entered the shop. It was amazing, the boxes were stacked high and she peeked into a few of them. It was interesting she lost her balance for a moment and knocked over a stack of boxes, with a embarrassed laugh she did her best to stack the boxes back up.

Slaving away on the shiny metal object in front of him, Cecil had spent several hours trying to fix his latest piece of art. Things had slowed down on the wand making front and so he was able to spend more time on his true passion. The chrome of the motorcycle gleamed in the light of the store as the fire reflected off the shiny metal creating an alluring sight. It was easy for him to get lost in his current affairs, paying little attention to his surrounds. He almost always missed the tinkling of the door chime to alert him to a customer. This time was no different, as he heard not a sound of someone entering until he heard the crash.
Jumping from his position, wand at the ready and pointed in front of him, Cecil prowled towards the front of his store. Growing up he had learned quickly to be cautious of things he did not see because you never knew if someone was out to hurt you. Walking with a confident gait as if stalking his prey, Cecil zeroed in on the sound, seeing a young woman trying to pick up the boxes. He wanted to laugh a moment, she seemed to be out of her element here. Flicking his wand and muttering a spell, Cecil used his magic to stack the boxes back up. Don't worry about it. I took care of it. Is their anything that I can help you with? He was cautious yet also trying not to scare the girl away.

As the boxes righted themselves she smiled. Magic still had the capability to fascinate her no matter how trivial the action was. “Sorry.” Her face gave away her genuine concern and she shook her hands slightly. “I can be a total klutz most of the time, just the other day I knocked someone into the waterfall. Usually I’m not so clunky.” She shrugged and maneuvered lightly so she wouldn’t knock anything over. “I don’t get wands, they are so intricate and carry such magic. Fascinating.” Lark commented softly as she moved closer, she had a softer voice and knew from experience the closer she was to someone the better it would be for him if she were closer. With a light smile she dug through her bag.
“Hi. My name is Lark, I just opened a kite shop down the way. I uh wanted to get to know some of the other shop owners better. Help generate business, you know?” Finding the wind chime her face lit up as she pulled the delicate glass and metal from her purse. It was one of her favorites she had made it, it was rainbow colored glass and offered the bird shaped pieces to him. “I uh sell these too, I thought I would make an offer of friendship, maybe you could hang it outside?” With a smile she made it jingle and smiled. “The wind likes to make music.”

Being around Aine had taught Cecil a few things. Just a few years ago he would have looked at this woman in front of him as being entirely crazy but after meeting a fairy with the same inquisitive nature he was not so sure. He was used to people knocking over the merchandise so he kept his smile on his face. Don't worry about knocking stuff over. I am quite used to it what with a lot of rambunctious children running around. He saw her eyeing the wands and it gave him an idea. He would wait to talk to her about it later.
When she introduced herself and started talking about her shop he chuckled a moment. If only all of the shop owners had her enthusiastic personality life here in Providence would be more fun. Not getting a moment to speak he watched as she pulled a beautiful wind chime from her purse. He was amazed at the generosity of someone he had just met. Very nice to meet you Lark. I am Cecil Guerin, I own this wand shop and motorcycle shop. That is such a beautiful wind chime. He took the object from her hands and walked outside. Using his wand he fixed the wind chime by the door magically.
Turning to look at the girl he smiled again. I have not seen you come in for a wand. Either you are a creature that does not need one or you are just have not had time. Though I do know a few creatures that use wands to help channel their own magical powers for more focus.

“Thanks, I make them.” Lark blushed at the compliment. It was nice to have others like your work. She felt a little insulted being compared to a child but she figured he meant well. Then again she did have the same nervous energy as a child, she always had. The win chime blew and Lark smiled. “See, the wind is pleased you hung it.” Hopefully people would ask about it and he could send them her way. Being the bright eyed new sdhop owner she wanted people to like her, and her things. Maybe she could do a kite-flying workshop, drum up some interest. With a small shrug she stashed the idea away for another day. Now was not the time to work out the Logistics of it. Looking at the boxes again she smiled.
“No I was never taught how to use one, I only recently was clued into my powers I’m still trying to harness the power within.” She spoke in a grandiose cheesy way and laughed. It did feel like she was speaking out of one of those self help books and she shook her head. “My parents wanted me away from all of this. It would have been useful had they raised me within the community, maybe then I wouldn’t feel like such an outcast.” With a shrug she smiled at Cecil. “Tell me about the wands, please?”

It was hard to fathom that anyone that currently resided in the all wizard community of Providence was unfamiliar with a wand. Then again, there were a few people who simply chose not to embrace their magic or many were just scared. Staring at the blond girl with unveiled curiosity he quickly begin his diatribe. Well I do not quite know where to begin. Wands are on the outside very simple objects all polished and lacquered. They range in lengths though most of the wands I make are around twelve to fourteen inches. Each of these small sticks holds reagents that boost some of the natural talents within their owners.
He paused there, taking a breath and waiting to see what her reaction would be. She seemed genuinely curious and he often did not get that kind of reaction from someone. It would be easy to continue on with his talking. A small smile was on his face as he waited for her to encourage him to continue.

She listened closely to him and nodded. Sucking in her lip for moment she shrugged. “I see, I think.” It was interesting using a wand, it was something she hadn’t thought about, having something that would be a channel for magic, from what she had heard she was suppose to just concentrate and bam she controlled the wind. It was far more complicated than that things were so temperamental and she was so driven by her emotions she wasn’t sure just how to control things. Maybe she would hire a PI and track down her biological parents. Her adoptive parents didn’t seem to know what she was and when strange things started happening it was her cue to leave. “How does the core thing work? Elements and tings a person is naturally good at influence the core make up?”
Her brow twisted in thought. “If someone doesn’t have a need for a wand would it mess with the magic? Like the user was too powerful for the wand? There are legends like that. At least I think there are, I was with a small group of wood nymphs and they said the magic would implode and destroy things.” There was so much unknown about the magical realm, she felt so far behind, Se traced one the outline of one of the boxes and sighed.
