Jacqueline gave a smile as she heard Zoë agree to go shopping with her may be finally she could up date her out dated wardrobe and get rid of the tie dye sixties things she had as it was the only thing at the time she could afford. She nodded her agreement as Zoë spoke of people slowing down and taking time to see the pleasant things in life her face now beaming as Zoë agreed to draw a picture of the water fall for her. She watched as Zoë took out her pencils and other things she needed and then began to draw.
“I guess with him being the mayor, he’s probably too busy for me to see him again to be able to finish my picture” she said “it will have to stay unfinished" she said with a sigh as she watching Zoë draw she watched how her movements were different to her own. She could see she had been doing it a lot longer than she had as her hand moved across the paper almost captivating her as she saw the image appear on the paper.
Jacqueline sat for a moment thinking where the best place would be to put the picture in her room at first she thought about the wardrobe door but then thought no as she realized it would be damaged. Then she remembered the space above the bedside table it would be perfect for it and then as she dressed she could look at it and always remember this night.
Jacqueline looked back at Zoë as she spoke of the mans announcement at the jam “I’m sorry but I couldn’t hear anything over the noise of the people, I must have been sat in the worst spot in the whole place.” she said her eyes grew wide as she listen to Zoë tell her about the announcement and how she was worried the bad things that happened at the other place would come to providence.
“I’m sure it won’t, “she said hoping she would assure her “and if it dose I’m sure the mayor has some sort of plan to stop it before it gets that bad.”
Jacqueline looked at Zoë as she tried to answer her question on boys seeming not to know the answer herself she listened as she spoke of two she had met.
Jacqueline sighed “I’m sorry but what I meant was are they warm like us or cold and hard like rock, I have seen them but never actually been close enough to you know…know what they actually feel like. ” she said her question sounding more like that of a innocent child.
As Zoë finished the picture and handed it to her Jacqueline smiled looking down at it “it’s beautiful “she said laying it across her knee she saw all the detail. Glancing up at the real thing she could barely tell the difference except for the odd frog or cricket that jumped or plopped into the clear water.
Jacqueline Look up at Zoë as the pain in her back subsided she knew Zoë’s question from earlier needed an answer and she had been struggling with whether to give her that answer then with a sigh she spoke her eyes now looking at Zoë in hope what she was about to tell her she would understand. “My mother told me before she passed away that she wasn’t my natural mother, she had found me ten years previously. She didn’t know where I had come from. Not having a child of her own she decided to raised me the best she knew how, then when I was ten she became ill and passed away. Having no family I could go and stay with I had no choice but to leave. Then about two years ago and every year since at the same time I start to get pains in my back, that’s when these appeared“ she stopped turning her back to Zoë she paused for a moment as if uncomftable with the idea of showing her. Slipping off the jacket Zoë had given her she placed it on the ground next to her then grasping the edge of her tee shirt she slowly lifted the back of her shirt. She had not shown her back to anyone before and was hoping Zoë wouldn’t run away from her at lest long enough to hear her story.
There on her back sat two boney stumps one just before each shoulder “Every time it happens these grow a bit more” she said “I’m changing, into what I don’t know … and… I’m scared” she said her fear now strong in her voice. She had longed to speak aloud the words she had thought but never said now she had. With her head hung low and her eyes closed tight hiding the tears that threaten to fall she waited for the scream and the sound of footsteps hit the ground as she feared Zoë would ran away.
Jacqueline pulled her tee shirt down and gathered her things together holding the jacket in her hand she looked at Zoë and held it out to her “Here, I’ll under stand if you want nothing to do with me” she said “for all you know… I could be changing into something bad and the reason I am alone is because everyone like me was killed” she stood up placing the jacket beside Zoë she moved to the waters edge “I don’t feel bad ... Inside “she fell silent the night air chilling her as she stood not knowing what else she could say her heart was now open for the first time since leaving her home. She just hoped she had made the right decision in telling Zoë. It had been hard for her to talk about her past she had kept it hidden for so long deep inside her and for now to tell someone.
Jacqueline turned back to face Zoë “I have worked in different places since I was ten, I have been beaten, spat on and kicked, lowest of the low, finally I found work, I worked as a maid in small homes and big mansions, I have worked for the meanest nastiest of men and the kindest, the little girl you saw in my picture, I saved her, her father was so grateful he gave me the money to come here, he was the kindest most gentlest man you could have wished to meet, but it was his wife who wanted me to go, she saw my back one day as I was showering. From that day on she wanted me gone, I was a beast an abomination she called me, this was the only place I could come to. So he gave me the money to come here.” she stopped, why was she telling her this, it was like the waterfall that thundered behind her, once it was started nothing couldn’t stop it as a flood of emotions from deep inside her came pouring out of her. Once held back by a dam of loneliness now it was broke and she could not stop the flow as she hoped that Zoë understood. For if she didn’t then nobody would and she would have no choice but to leave the school a place she had longed to come to ever since she heard of it four years ago.
Standing she felt a drop of water on her cheek slowly another ran down she looked up she felt another then another as slowly the rain became heavy till it soaked her clothes and running down her dark hair but most of all hiding the tears she now shed as she stood watching Zoë. She glanced at the picture its once beautiful scenery now speckled with drops of rain that fell on to it as it lay on her satchel . She shivered as she stood in the rain finally she sank to her knees in what was now soft mud “I don’t know why I told you but if you don’t understand then I have no hope left” she said burying her face in her hands as she cried. - Re: •••Everything I'm not [open] Thread Started on May 8, 2009, By Petros at 6:24pm

Jacqueline smiled "thank you, and I hope you find what you lost" she said watching him as he walk away, but something in side her told her she wouldn't be seeing him again and it made her sad to think that.
Turning she picked up her bag and looked at the big wooden doors, with a last glance back in the direction that petros had gone she took her first step towards the doors her mind going over what he had said, that she had to go to the main office and find the head mistress or her deputy, that’s if she could find it her sense of direction inside wasn't as good as her sense of direction out side in fact she hated being inside, she preferred to be out under the sky.
Reaching out she grasped the handle of the door and pushed it open feeling the cool air that came from within, pushing it open further she looked inside, even with the light it looked dark and scary to her.
She stood for a moment before stepping in onto the stone floor of the main hallway, she shivered at the cool air and the smell of knowledge that hung like a thick blanket, slowly as she looked around at the dusty oil paintings of previous teachers and students Jacqueline smiled " just as I imagined it would look like" she said moving further in.
