The kitchen felt like home, it did. Pots hung from the ceiling in a glorious line and moved as Julia stood near them on a wooden bar chair. She was too short to put up the poster on the well. The kitchen felt a little too much home for Julia. A little shopping trip to the hippie store, and you come back with a lovely little poster with gorgeous artwork on top. It's 60's psychedelic dream in words of peace and love and it hung towering next to the window. It's colors sparked in the white and sandy colors. Her clumsy self could feel the chair about to fall over. She yipped and jumped off, letting it the stool fall to the ground. “Oi,” she uttered, bending over and picking the bar stool back up. She groaned and looked at the poster again, grinning. The feeling of home was there, but the single poster made it feel like Ben and Julia's home.
Ben was coming home eventually and Julia wanted to surprise him. Take-out was getting boring and Julia hadn't cooked since she left her home in Wales for Greens. Being in her own house with her boyfriend felt safe and she could actually enjoy it on her own time. She felt more adult and that was all she really needed. Julia walked over toward one of the pots and looked up. Her hand reached the back of her pants and she pointed it toward the pot. “Accio,” she uttered and it came toward her. Not too quickly, but enough for her to catch it in her hand. She grinned and walked toward the sink and filled it up with some water. She waltzed over toward the stove and put it on top of the red, hot circle and sighed, staring at the water. It would take a while to boil. Julia's attention span was that of a ferret. She grinned and began heading toward the CD player, something she put in the kitchen to cure her loneliness until Ben came home. It started on a slow song, the woman's voice was raspy and pitchy, but it worked. Julia looked over at the stove, not hearing the water boil just yet.
The music changed to a fast crescendo and the woman kept singing and Julia rubbed her arms, walking past a mirror. She stopped for a second and went backwards. Her hair certainly was different. Instead of the dark brown she was so used to, she had come to the realize that a different color would surely surprise Ben. Her brown curly locks were now golden. The hair was so soft it felt like fleece and she couldn't help but touch it. It was certainly a big change and she was worried that her love wouldn't really enjoy it. If he didn't well, it'll grow out. A large smile went across her face as the song grew quick. She went back toward the stove, hearing rattling from the stove. She looked around the cabinet and found some olive oil and salt and added it in the boiling water. She grabbed the pasta and dropped it inside, hearing the crinkle of the pasta sticking into the metal pan. She started at the hot boiling water as the steam rose slowly, hitting her face and causing to go scarlet. The bubbles continue to go and the timer ticked away.
Eudoxia had told her that she would go talk to people and resources. She also said to be careful around Ben. Well, it's kind of hard when that same person is sleeping in the same bed as Julia. Julia sighed, thinking of the demon inside, watching what ever she does. It was painful in her mind to think that someone was sharing her memories. Julia wondered how much longer until Eudoxia would return to her. She knew she was busy, but it was finally July. She shivered, even with the steam hitting her body. She didn't want to think about it now, not when her boyfriend was coming home, unaware of the dinner he was about to have. Julia moved around, trying to think of something happy. It was about to a good day.
Julia outfit spoke a proud tone. “Shut up and dance,” were worded in large bold print on her white shirt and that's what she did. She changed her song and it was fast, and poppy. To get her mind off of everything, all she could do was jump up and down in one spot, moving her golden fleece hair around and around and up and down. She giggled and started running around her home. It was her home, she was alone. No one could tell her to stop dancing in the living room, the sound traveling into her ears as it made her sweat and pant and the T.V putting lights on the stage. If Ben walked in at that moment, she wouldn't care. The music took her away and that was all she needed.
She only stopped to get tired and as the t.v continued it's moving picture, the minister on to give an important announcement. Her eyes widened and Julia ran toward the cd player, turning it off. Quickly, returning to couch in the living room, turning up the t.v volume. She began cursing in her head, realizing that Ben was still coming home. Did he know it was on? She sighed and listened, leaning back and hearing the head honcho's voice. He began listing off the names of the reapers. Each name felt like the swing of the ax and the guillotine came down with Eudoxia's name. She couldn't breathe for a second and when she did, the words, “oh god,” came out. She sat there unsure of what to do. Her assumption was correct. She had lunch with the enemy and she was dating the good guys. So much was piling on and she didn't know what she was going to do. She coward down in the couch, waiting, scared. All she wanted now was Ben to come home and hold her. So much was about to happen.
